Unmanned Aircraft Systems (“Drone”) Course

Galvin Flying offers a class on small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS, aka “drones”). The emphasis of the course will be on safe sUAS operations and will be led by our experienced Certified Flight Instructors (CFIs).

Knowledge areas to be covered include principles of flight, quadcopter flight control systems, automation, Global Positioning System (GPS), airspace, weather, regulations (to include application for waivers / airspace authorizations), radio communications,and risk management.

These knowledge areas will aid in conducting safe and regulatory compliant sUAS operations as well as the successful completion of the FAA Unmanned Aircraft General (UAG) Knowledge Test offered at Galvin. Participation in the class will substantially expand upon the online UAS training available from the FAA and provide a greater aviation context for sUAS operations. No prior pilot training or knowledge is required. No prior drone experience or knowledge is required.
